Becoming a member of SDDS is easy; apply online at www.cda.org. One application handles your membership for SDDS, The California Dental Association (CDA) and the American Dental Association (ADA).

Who is Eligible?

A dentist shall be classified as an active member of this association who subscribes to, adheres to and is bound by the ethics and Bylaws of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Sacramento District Dental Society, and who qualifies for membership under one or more of the following criteria:

  • Is a graduate and holder of a DDS or DMD or other appropriate degree from a dental school accredited or approved by the American Dental Association and (i) engages in activities in government service or other endeavors which contribute to the profession of dentistry; or (ii) serves as a full-time dental educator in a dental school located in the area
  • Is a current holder of a special permit in oral and maxillofacial surgery issued by the State Board of Dental Examiners

An active member in good standing shall receive the following benefits of membership: attendance at all SDDS events at member pricing; weekly e-blasts and updates of current news, events and notifications;  a subscription to the bi-monthly Nugget magazine and such other services as are provided by the SDDS, CDA and ADA.

An active member in good standing shall be eligible for election or appointment to any office, position, chairmanship, committee, delegate to the CDA and ADA House of Delegates or any such agency of this Society. An active member under a disciplinary sentence of suspension shall not be privileged to hold office, either elective or appointive, including delegate in the Sacramento District Dental Society or CDA, or to vote or otherwise participate in the election of officials of the SDDS or CDA.

Dues rates vary based on number of years practicing as a dentist (new dentists receive discounts for the first six years of membership after graduation) and the category of membership classification. Upon application, dues quotes will be provided and the member may elect to pay in a lump sum or on a monthly basis.

Dual, Affiliate, Student and DHP Members in good standing shall receive the following benefits of membership: attendance at all SDDS events at member pricing; weekly e-blasts and updates of current news, events and notifications;  a subscription to the bi-monthly Nugget magazine and such other services as are provided by the SDDS, CDA and ADA. Dual, Affiliate, Student and DHP Members have all the rights and privileges of active membership except the rights to hold elected office, Board positions, serve as a CDA delegate/alternate, and/or vote in any election, referendum, or meeting.

Who is eligible?

A dentist who maintains membership in another CDA component as well as SDDS and who practices a minimum of one day a week in our component jurisdiction.

Who is eligible?

A dentist who maintains membership in good standing in the American Dental Association and is not otherwise eligible for active or life membership in this Society may be classified as an affiliate member of this Society.

Who is eligible?

A student enrolled in an undergraduate university program or a dental school student may be classified as a student member of this association.

  • Predoctoral: A student eligible for student membership in the American Dental Association may be classified as a student member of this association.

Who is eligible?

Any individual who is in the dental health profession such as hygienists, assistants, office workers, governmental agency representatives may be classified as a DHP member of this Society.
