From all aspects of dentistry, this CE course gathers together SDDS member dentists who will present pearls for the general practitioner as well as specialists. Speakers listed in order of presentation.

Basic Splint Therapy for Temporomandibular Disorders
Clifford Chow, DDS
The presentation will discuss a summary of the current scientific knowledge on the use of splint therapy for TMD pain. Recommendations will be given based on evidence-based knowledge and particular treatment goals for common clinical scenarios. The use of a TMD Risk Assessment tool will also be discussed as a clinical aid in TMD treatment planning and prognosis.

Explore the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in dentistry, including fundamental concepts, potential benefits and limitations.

Clifford Chow, DDS

Dr. Clifford Chow is an Orofacial Pain Specialist that limits his practice to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain. He graduated with a D.D.S. degree from the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1981. He also graduated from University of California Berkeley in 1977 with a B.A. in Biochemistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and is Board Certified in Orofacial Pain with the American Board of Orofacial Pain. He is a Fellow with the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. He serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry as a Clinical Consultant for the UCSF Center for Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine.


Nisha Manila, BDS, MS, PhD, FACD

Dr. Manila is an Associate Professor and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at California Northstate University College of Dental Medicine. Following her dental degree from India, and Ph.D. from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan, she completed Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology training at Texas A&M University. Dr. Manila holds a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence. A Fellow of the American College of Dentists, Dr. Manila actively presents research and focuses on leveraging advanced imaging techniques.


Brandon Martin, DDS, MS

Brandon D Martin DDS, MS is a board-certified orthodontist and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). He lectures on the latest in digital orthodontics – primarily on how to implement predictive AI-driven technology to customize braces and aligner cases, effectively monitor treatment, and increase accuracy. Dr. Martin also lectures on Phase I growth guidance, potential complications in orthodontics, and using the latest research to deliver safe, predictable, and effective treatment outcomes. With an evidence-driven approach, Dr. Martin considers facial esthetics, function, airway, growth, and overall patient health to guide treatment decisions. Dr. Martin is a graduate of the UCSF School of Dentistry who then received his certificate in orthodontics and master’s degree from the University of Maryland. Dr Martin practices at Alexander & Martin Orthodontics with offices in Rocklin, Roseville, and Sacramento.


Devan Dalla, DDS

Dr. Devan Dalla is a graduate of New York University, College of Dentistry, where he earned honors in Implantology and received the Dr. Bernard E. Rudner Memorial Award for clinical excellence. Before moving to the U.S., he graduated top of his class with a Bachelor’s degree in dental surgery from one of the leading dental schools in India. Dr. Dalla founded a non-profit organization called “Raahat” to provide free dental care to underserved communities. He is currently a practicing dental surgeon and serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. Dr. Dalla is active in continuing education and is an active member of multiple dental affiliations including the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).
