This California OSHA Renewal Training course of 1.5 Hrs. In length is designed to update and reinforce participants’ knowledge of workplace safety standards in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and California-specific requirements (Cal/OSHA). The course provides a comprehensive review of essential safety protocols to ensure continued compliance in healthcare and dental settings. Topics include updates to OSHA standards, hazard communication, bloodborne pathogens, infection control, personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency preparedness, ergonomics, workplace hazard recognition, and reporting procedures. Emphasis is placed on maintaining a safe and compliant work environment through proper application of safety guidelines and risk prevention strategies. Upon completion, attendees will demonstrate renewed competency in OSHA regulations and best practices for workplace safety, supporting ongoing compliance and professional responsibility in clinical and healthcare environments.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Explain key Cal/OSHA workplace posting requirements.
- Identify major OSHA safety standards for dental offices, including bloodborne pathogens, hazard communication, heat illness prevention, emergency action planning, and required annual trainings.
- Demonstrate correct infection control and personal protective equipment (PPE) practices.
- Apply documentation and recordkeeping practices that support OSHA compliance and help prevent violations.
- Evaluate a dental practice for compliance risks involving biological, chemical, and environmental hazards, and recommend corrective actions.


Joy Brack, RDA
Joy Brack, RDA, has continued her career in dentistry since 2005 where she graduated from Galen College in Modesto, CA as a dental assistant. She became licensed as a Register Dental Assistant and built wonderful connections with her patients and dental community with three different dental practices through the years until she began a new career path spreading her passion for dental assisting to students in education. Joy has been in dental education since 2011 and has worked in positions of instruction, Program Director, curriculum expert for Modesto Junior College Dental Assisting Program and PATCH (Professional Advancement Towards Clinical Healthcare) 80-hours Course, and American Heart Association BLS Instructor. Currently she is a member of ADAA (American Dental Assisting Association) and FADE (Foundation of Allied Dental Educators).
