Course Information
What is all the mystery that surrounds TMD? This topic is one of THE topics of today in dentistry! Talk to any dentist and you will, more than likely, get in to a lively discussion about philosophies, treatment protocol and much more. This evening’s program will feature three SDDS members who have TMD practices—and they all have many differing points to discuss in THROWDOWN fashion! Drs. Clifford Chow, David Miller and Tim Mickiewicz have agreed to discuss in panel form some of the nuances of TMD, both controversial, as well as not. This is an evening you won’t want to miss!
Topics will include, but will not be limited to:
- When to treat and when not to treat TMD?
- What is “fluff treatment” and what is the “real stuff”?
- Evidence – is it clear?
- Treatment options
- Imaging practices…or not
Presented by: Clifford Chow, DDS; Timothy Mickiewicz, DDS; and David Miller, DDS
As fellow doctors, diplomates and educators with distinct resumes, Drs. Chow, Mickiewicz and Miller come with a combined 50+ years of TMD experience. Dr. Chow is adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCSF School of Dentistry and maintains a private practice limited to TMD and orofacial pain. Dr. Mickiewicz trains sleep physicians from UC Davis School of Medicine, and has transformed his Sacramento practice from traditional dentistry to paying full attention to TMD, sleep medicine and orthodontics. Dr. Miller teaches orofacial pain and full mouth reconstruction at LVI, and has a general practice in Roseville with an emphasis on TMD, sleep disorders and neuromuscular restorative dentistry.
