This course is a part of our Super CE – Week of Webinars event. The courses will all be in a webinar format and the pricing of the course will depend on how many courses you sign up for.

This course will provide an overview of workers’ compensation and when to open a claim. We will take a deeper dive into TDIC’s workers’ compensation process, review workers’ compensation data and discuss techniques you can implement in your practice to reduce your work-related risk. We will also go over what to do when your employee reports to you that they tested positive for COVID-19. Learning Objectives:

  • Understand workers’ compensation insurance and why you must have it
  • Learn how to interact with your employee when they get ill or injured in the dental office
  • Implement risk management and best practices techniques to prevent work-related injuries

Trina Cervantes, RDH, Risk Management Analyst; TDIC (SDDS Vendor Member):

Ms. Cervantes speaks nationally at seminars and at dental schools where TDIC is the endorsed carrier. She advises dentists in the areas of professional and employment liability and property risk management. She pursued a dental hygiene license and worked in private practice for 13 years before returning to TDIC.

Christina Fisher; Sedgwick

Christina Fisher is currently working as a Claims Team Lead in the Roseville, CA Sedgwick office. Christina has over 12 years of industry related experience. Her current role supervises claim adjusters from senior examiners to mentoring claim examiner trainees.
As a supervisor, Christina participates in conference calls with clients, attorneys and adjusters to ensure action plans are addressed and resolution of claim files are accomplished. In addition, she regularly assigns new losses, as well as reviews lost time and medical only files. She provides clear and concise direction for her team of examiners.

Jennifer Rivas; Sedgwick

Jennifer Rivas is currently a Client Service Director manager with Sedgwick in Roseville, CA. In this role she is responsible for the management of services, expectations and results of existing programs. She measures, analyzes and communicates program results and presents strategies for improvement. Jennifer’s responsibilities also include serving as a single point of contact for all client needs, development and implementation of client-specific service parameters, directing risk management objectives, working closely with operations staff to assure accurate and appropriate claim handling, working closely with broker partners and managing all aspects of client business units for the attainment of established goals.
Jennifer has more than 14 years of experience in the claims industry. She joined Sedgwick in 2006 and has serviced both national and regional organizations. Prior to her current position, Jennifer has held various positions of increasing responsibility, including IAP-Claims Representative, Claims Examiner, and Team Lead. Jennifer has strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly make reasonable and appropriate decisions.
