This evening will feature a “lively” discussion regarding Orthodontics. Treatment options and emerging trends will be discussed and debated. Topics will include but not be limited to:

  • Orthodontic goals and boundary conditions
  • Occlusion
  • Accelerated Ortho techniques
  • Facial esthetics
  • Criteria for finishing a case
  • Early interception Ortho (phase 1 braces)
  • Invisalign vs traditional appliances

SDDS has brought together several of our own members to be on this panel – bring your questions to this general meeting – the 3rd annual THROWDOWN!

Brandon D. Martin DDS, MS

Brandon D. Martin D.D.S., M.S., originally from Montana, practices at Alexander & Martin Orthodontics with locations in Rocklin, Roseville, and Sacramento. Dr Martin earned his dental degree at UCSF and then completed his residency in orthodontics at the University of Maryland, earning an additional M.S. in Oral Sciences. He is an Elite Invisalign provider, proponent of passive self-ligating braces, and lectures locally on topics including Phase I treatment options, Class III growth, and the potential complications of orthodontic treatment. Dr Martin also serves as a member of the SDDS Ethics Committee and is on the editorial board of The Nugget. He strives to deliver quality, evidence-based orthodontic care in a convenient setting that meets his patients’ individual needs.

Donna Galante DMD

Donna Galante DMD is a Board Certified Orthodontist with a private practice in Rocklin, El Dorado Hills and Grass Valley. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she earned her DMD degree followed by an additional 2 years post-graduate study in Orthodontics which she completed in 1986. She believes in evaluating the patient’s entire facial structure including their airway as part of a functional, esthetic and contemporary approach to Orthodontic treatment.

Michael A. Miyasaki, DDS

Michael A. Miyasaki, DDS, is a 1987 graduate of the University of the Southern California School of Dentistry, and has since had a passion for teaching. Dr. Miyasaki is an active clinician with a private practice in Sacramento, CA, focused on lifetime dental health. Dr. Miyasaki has been involved in dental education for over 26 years, and many post-graduate live patient treatment courses globally. He is currently the Chief Dental Officer at Danville Materials, the Director of Education for the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum, and lectures and writes internationally. These experiences give Dr. Miyasaki a very unique perspective on the dental industry. His primary focus today in education is to bring applicable information and quality products to doctors and their teams to provide high quality, and predictable treatment experiences to their patients, thereby, enhancing their practice’s success. Philosophy: Let’s move enamel so we don’t have to remove enamel to achieve an improved smile.

Peter Worth DDS

Peter Worth DDS is a graduate of UCLA Dental School and USC Ortho (Tweed award – outstanding resident). He is American Board Certified and a Northern California Angle Society member and Past President. He has served on the UCD Craniofacial team for 27 years and has served on Peer Review/Ortho for the past 25 years. His philosophy is to try to achieve optimum tooth alignment, occlusion, facial esthetics, while keeping the airway open, teeth in bone and the condyle in a proper physiologic position.
