It is estimated that 80% of OSA is undiagnosed. Anything we can do to improve this would be of great benefit to society and our patients. Front end diagnosis and prevention is rare.Working to identify predisposition and possibly prevent later OSA in children is one of the ways we may get ahead on these abysmal statistics. Dentistry is an integral part of this!
- Debunking myths regarding OSA
- Alter stereotyping in the dental community
- Fiberoptic laryngoscopy and cone beam CT in the diagnosis of OSA
- Home sleep studies in the contemporary diagnosis and treatment of OSA.
Nan Appelblatt, MD, FACS, FAASM:
Dr. Nan Appelblatt’s first lecture on OSA was to anesthesiologists in 1990, and she has been involved in teaching docs , other health care professionals, and patients about it since. Her poor children grew up with 8 track tapes of snoring as she drove them to school. Nan is one of the few double boarded sleep/ENT physicians. She considers herself “a connector” in the field of healthcare. We welcome her to the dental community for this presentation.
