The profession of dentistry continues to be in a period of transition. Economic pressure and generational change are fostering an environment of practice innovation, and new models of care delivery (particularly dental service organizations, or DSOs) are gaining acceptance in the marketplace, both influencing and being influenced by generational differences in new dentists. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted some of these changes as well. Dentists today need to be aware of these changes – and these opportunities – to ensure that they are well-positioned to adapt as needed. This session will examine the social and economic factors influencing changes in dentistry.
