Dental Care During Pregnancy –
Increasing Utilization for Improved Patient Health Outcomes (Webinar)
2 CEU, Core • SDDS Member Pricing: Free / See form for CDA Members and Non-members
A mother’s oral health is one of the best predictors of her child’s oral health and poor oral health during pregnancy can lead to adverse outcomes for mother and baby. However, dental care during pregnancy remains an underutilized component of comprehensive prenatal care. Medical and dental providers are equally critical resources in educating patients about the importance of good oral health prior to conception and during pregnancy, and how to access dental care for themselves and their future children.
This is a learning opportunity for medical and dental providers to increase collaboration between the two disciplines with the intention of improving understanding of best practices for providing dental care and increasing utilization of dental care during pregnancy.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the connection between oral health status and pregnancy outcomes.
- Identify the challenges and opportunities for providing dental care to pregnant people.
- Apply screening for dental needs and referral process into practice when caring for pregnant people.
- Implement practical guidelines for providing care to people during pregnancy.
