COMPLIANCE DAY – Do You Have What You Need? (In-person course)
4 CEU, Core • Member Pricing: $159 early / $179 regular
Bring your laptop to this course, and you will go home with a checklist and sample plan that you need to bring your office compliance up to date. Specifically discussed will be the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan (OSHA required) and the HIPAA compliance manuals. Additionally, Ms. Pichay will explain and help you access all the manuals available to SDDS/CDA members on the CDA website.
HIPAA COMPLIANCE ESSENTIALS – More than 20 years after HIPAA became law, dental practices continue to struggle with understanding what is necessary to be compliant. Essential elements to compliance with patient rights, uses and disclosures of patient information, required and addressable safeguards, written policies and procedures, and employee training will be reviewed. Ms. Pichay will also review how to conduct a risk analysis. You will leave with a checklist to guide your efforts.
- Learn how to manage certain situations common to dental practices that pertain to patient information
- Verify if you have completed the essential steps for HIPAA compliance
- Know where to look for compliance assistance
DEVELOP YOUR PRACTICE’S EXPOSURE CONTROL PLAN – With a single dental practice being cited $61,000, violations of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard continues to be #1 for citations in dentistry. Dental offices are required to protect their employees by establishing, implementing, and maintaining a written bloodborne pathogens exposure control plan; this exposure control plan must be reviewed and updated at least annually.
- Requirements of OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard vs Infection Control
- Identify the key provisions of a written exposure control plan
- Develop a written Exposure Control Plan

We do this by providing the needed programs, services, and training to get them in compliance while working with regulatory bodies to reduce or eliminate the fines. This allows our client to proceed forward with a safer workplace for their employees often for less than they would have paid in fines. The common thread between our clients is not what they do, but that they are committed to their most valuable asset – their employees.” – Dolan Williams
