DESCRIPTION:Ridge Preservation and Augmentation of Compromised Sites for Implant Site Development – Lecture Only Registration (Webinar)\n3 CEU\, Core • Member Price: $95 early (ends 2/29)\nRegistration cost details: $95 early (ends 2/29) / $115 regular (begins 3/1) \nA hands-on course is available as an add-on to this course.\n$395 – lecture & hands-on Register by March 17*\n*Must attend lecture to participate in hands-on course \nLearn more about hands-on course »\n  \nThis course is designed to provide clinicians with the knowledge\, skill set and confidence to sequence and perform predictable hard tissue augmentation procedures prior to implant placement. With a lecture and hands-on component (Pig-jaw)\, this bone grafting course is designed for the clinician with some prior implant experience\, looking to improve and advance bone grafting techniques for their implant practice. The focus will be to understand how to manage extraction sockets that have defects as well as learn various approaches to managing more complex horizontal ridge defects. An understanding of patient selection based on health history\, graft site CBCT evaluation\, harvest site assessment\, and other approaches to minimize complications will be reviewed. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nTreatment planning and patient selection for grafting procedures\nConcepts and techniques in bone grafting from incision to suturing\nExtraction site management including immediate versus delayed implant placement\nHorizontal procedural approaches of ridge augmentation\nUnderstanding pre and post graft management protocols\nNew technology using growth factors to enhance augmentation procedures\nManaging graft complications\, possibility of treatment and prognosis\n\n \nCo-sponsored by:\n\n \n \nTamir Wardany\, DDS\, DABOI\nDr. Tamir Wardany is one of the few board certified oral implantologists in California who holds diplomate status with the American Board of Oral Implantology\, and one of an even smaller handful of implant specialists in the world\, that limits his practice exclusively to the surgical component of implant and bone augmentation procedures. He has dedicated the past 19 years to extensive training in implant surgery and its associated bone augmentation procedures. After completing Dental School at Meharry Medical College in Nashville\, TN.\, Dr. Wardany completed a fellowship in implant dentistry through State University of New York at Stonybrook. He then continued his training overseas\, spending extensive time in Europe\, training alongside some of the world’s leaders in implant and bone augmentation surgery. \nIn addition to his years of training\, Dr. Wardany conducts clinical research in his office and has collaborated on research studies related to bone regeneration and dental implant biology with the department of reconstructive surgery at Stanford University. He has been a product advisor for Geistlich Biomaterials and actively lectures for Straumann and Geistlich Biomaterials\, a leading regenerative company based in Switzerland. In an effort to always be on the forefront of this specialization\, Dr. Wardany maintains membership with the International Team for Implantology and the Osteology Foundation. Both groups focus on research to further the quality of care in implant surgery and complex graft procedures. \nDr. Wardany was a former collegiate swimmer born and raised in Sacramento. He is a proud Sacramento Country Day and Jesuit alumnus and lives in Land Park with his wife and three amazing children. Once in a while he still gets time to swim a few laps and watch 49er football. \n \nRegister with Fillable PDF»\nSign up online »\n  \nTerms and Conditions: \nCancellation/Refund Policy\nFull refund granted less $25 administration fee\, if received in writing 14 days before the class. SUMMARY:CE – Local Anesthesia: Is the “Mandibular Block” Passé?
DESCRIPTION:Local Anesthesia: Is the “Mandibular Block” Passé? (In-person course)\n4 CEU\, Core • Member Price: $159 early / $179 regular\nLocal anesthesia forms the backbone of pain control techniques in contemporary dental practice. The subject of pain control in dentistry has undergone a recent renewal of interest\, a renaissance. In this course\, Dr. Malamed will present an in-depth discussion of the problem in achieving MANDIBULAR ANESTHESIA. \nThe traditional ‘mandibular nerve block’ has one of the lowest success rates of major nerve blocks administered in the human body. Newer techniques\, such as the Gow-Gates mandibular nerve block; Akinosi-Vazirani closed mouth mandibular nerve block; intraosseous anesthesia; periodontal ligament injection (PDL) and intraseptal techniques have been developed in an effort to improve success in this area. The local anesthetic articaine HCl has been demonstrated to have significant success when administered by mandibular infiltration in adults\, while more recently the ability to buffer local anesthetic solutions has demonstrated potential to both increase the rate of onset of anesthesia as well as increasing its depth. These techniques will be reviewed in this program. \n \nSponsored by:\n \n \n \nStanley F. Malamed\, DDS:\nDr. Malamed is a dentist anesthesiologist and emeritus professor of dentistry at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry\, located in Los Angeles\, California\, USA. In 1973\, Professor Malamed joined the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry (now the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC). Dr. Malamed retired from the university in 2013. \nDr. Malamed has authored more than 180 scientific papers and 17 chapters in various medical and dental journals and textbooks in the areas of physical evaluation\, emergency medicine\, local anesthesia\, sedation\, and general anesthesia. \n \nSign up with fillable PDF »\nSign up online » \nInstructions for completing fillable PDF forms: Please open the fillable PDF form directly in Adobe Reader®/Acrobat.
