Bay Area Forensic Odontology
2 CEU, Core • $99 Member Price
An over-view of the field of Forensic Odontology which will include numerous case presentations (dental identifications, bite mark cases, child abuse cases, fatal animal maulings).
The attendee should:
- Gain an understanding of the forensic dental field and potential opportunities in the field
- Appreciate the need to recognize and report suspected physical child abuse
- Understand the need to make available dental records (written and radiographic) when the coroner/law enforcement requests them
Duane Spencer, DDS:
Dr. Spencer attended the University of Southern California, graduating from the USC School of Dentistry in 1965. After four years of active duty as a Naval Dental Officer, he completed his pediatric dental residency at Children’s Hospital, Oakland. He practiced pediatric dentistry in Berkeley from 1969-1988. He opened a pediatric dental practice in Walnut Creek in 1973. After practicing dentistry for fifty years, he retired in 2015.
Dr. Spencer is a board certified forensic dentist with over 40 years in the field. He continues as a forensic consultant to a number of counties and the Calif. Dept. of Justice.
Roland G. Chew, DDS:
Dr. Chew is a forensic dental consultant for Alameda, San Mateo, and Contra Costa County. He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Dr. Chew is a 1993 graduate of Pacific, and he maintains a private practice in General Dentistry in Fremont, CA.
