What is the Sacramento District Dental Society?

The Sacramento District Dental Society (SDDS) is the association of dental professionals in the capital city of Sacramento, and serves Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo Counties. SDDS is a component of the American Dental Association (ADA) and California Dental Association (CDA). For more information, visit our about page.

Where can I find free or low cost dental care?

While there are no free clinics currently open in Sacramento, there are several clinics in the Sacramento District that accept Denti-Cal or offer a sliding scale for patients without insurance. For more information, please visit our public resources page and click on Community Clinics

How do I find a dentist that accepts Denti-Cal?

Please visit the Denti-Cal website or call the Denti-Cal referral line at 1.800.322.6384

Is my water fluoridated?

The following locations are fluoridated areas within the SDDS boundaries:

  • The city of Roseville (other cities in Placer County are NOT fluoridated)
  • The city of Sacramento
  • The Rosemont area (administered by American Water Works in Rosemont)
  • Customers of the American Water Works who are in the Parkway and Suburban areas
  • Portions of Sacramento County Water Maintenance District
  • Sacramento Suburban Water District (south area only)

The Center for Diseases Control (CDC) recommends individuals who live in any of these areas should not take fluoride supplements. For more information on fluoridation in your area, visit the CDC website

I’d like to file a complaint about a dentist. What do I do?

Please have the name of your dentists handy and call CDA Peer Review at 1.866.232.6362.

Although Peer Review can satisfactorily resolve the majority of disputes received, there are limitations which may make an issue unsuitable for review. The following types of complaints are not within the purview of the Peer Review System: Cases which do not meet “time” criteria, cases in litigation, cases petitioning for monetary award, cases about fees and cases not related to treatment.

What programs do you offer?
