Experiencing a medical emergency in your office can be one of the most stressful experiences in one’s career. Unfortunately, most offices are ill equipped and the personnel are not trained properly to handle emergencies proficiently. The proper understanding of common medical emergencies is essential in treating the victim appropriately. The goal of this course is to introduce the most common medical emergencies that occur in the dental office and how to properly manage them. We will discuss common scenarios that can be utilized for team training back in your office. We will also discuss the recommended and required emergency equipment to have in the dental office.
- Be able to identify common medical emergencies and their treatment
- Understand the roles for each member of the team in an emergency

Craig Alpha, DDS:
Dr. Craig X. Alpha is originally from Grand Junction, Colorado. Dental school took him to The University of the Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City, Iowa. Dr. Alpha moved to Northern California to complete a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Highland General Hospital in Oakland, California. Dr. Alpha has published several scientific articles, lectures to various dental organizations, and has been involved in teaching at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Practice interests encompass a full-scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a focus on dentoalveolar surgery, implants, pathology, and orthognathic surgery.
